Seven Months!

Wait a minute! Didn't I just post the Six Month Blog? Whatever! We are loving parenthood! Our little monkey is just too much fun to handle! Owen doesn't have a doctor's appointment this month so no shots for now! Yeah!
We have decided to finally have Owen sleep in his own bed in his own room. He has been in the bassinet in our room since birth. We were keeping him in the room with us downstairs because we thought we could get away with not cooling the upstairs. Well, after two nights of not wanting to go to bed until after midnight and waking up crying in the middle of the night, we said enough! Owen hasn't been put on a routine until now. I thought for sure that I wouldn't get any sleep with him so far away but it happens. Sleep overtakes you and you fall into a deep coma. So now I pray diligently that Owen sleeps well through the night and that God protects him. Now Doug and I sleep better at night and so does Owen! He has been sleeping 10-12 hours a night!!!!
I have been trying to take off weight since Owen has come. To accomplish this, I have decided to try running again. Funny, I know, but don't worry, you won't see me doing it! :) Doug took some pictures just before I was ready to go for a run. I wanted to see what Owen would look like with a bandana on his head!
We took Owen on his first trip to the swimming pool. It was so funny to watch him. He is such a people watcher! At first, I don't know if he knew what to think of the whole ordeal but after he got used to it, he had a blast! Grandma MJ bought him is little swimming outfit and daddy got him the cool airplane floatie!
We met up with my cousin's Haven and Steven again and took some more pictures of the boys. It was a blast to see how they interacted with each other. We can't wait until little Knox is older so he can interact with Owen a little more! (Knox is 3 1/2 months old in this picture and Owen is 6 1/2 months old.)

Six Months!

Owen is half way to his first birthday! Yikes, I didn't know that time was going to go that fast! Owen is such a joy to have around! He is developing a personality and doing new things all the time. It is exciting to see what is next! Owen had his 6 month check up and again, the doctor was very pleased with his growth and development! Owen now weighs 17 pounds and 3 ounces and is 26 inches long. His head is still ranking in the 90th percentile at 17.8 inches but the doctor is not conerned at all. That just means that 90% of all babies at Owen's age have a head that size. As far as weight at height, he is at the 50th percentile.
We have been feeding Owen Rice Cereal and baby Oatmeal. We also started Sweet Potatoes, Beans, Squash, and Carrots. So far we don't have a picky eater but the doctor says that can or will come when he is a little older. We can start giving Owen fruits and fruit juices too. The doctor even said that it's ok to start using a sippy cup if we want! One day, the night after we fed Owen carrots, Doug was taking care of Owen while I worked. When I got home, Doug had saved a diaper that had dark orange poo in it. He was concerned that Owen was bleeding internally! Owen is starting to use his high chair as well. He loves it! We still have to tuck blankets on both sides of him, otherwise he will lean to one side.
We are realizing that Owen is much more aware of his surroundings and get's bored very easily. This proved very difficult when we were trying to get the house ready for an upcoming baby shower. So many people have baby jumpers and exersaucers, that we decided to get one for Owen. He likes it pretty well and he can be entertained for quite a while! Gotta love all those gadgets!
Nap time is taboo. Sometimes he will take a nap, but not often. If we are lucky, we will get one 2-3 hour nap, every 2 weeks. Otherwise they are 5-10 minute naps. I have captured one nap from daddy and Owen! It was Doug's birthday and I was downstairs making Doug's birthday cake. I went upstairs to check on the two and this is what I found!
We have some distant relatives (3rd cousins) that live about 30 miles away from us. One of the cousin's and her husband had a baby in March. We are excited that Owen will have some family his age to play with! Anyway, we met with them last night for the first time in waaay to long so the boys could meet. To our suprise, Knox, who is now 3 months old weighs 18 pounds and is 27 inches long!!! He has already passed Owen and Owen is twice his age! We thought that was funny! :)

Now That's Funny!!!

Well, we did it! We got Owen laughing on video! Amazingly, it happended on one of the most difficult days we had with him. Owen had been fussy allllllll day. Our friends Brian and Ellen came over for dinner on Memorial day and I told them to hurry because Owen was wearing my last nerve with his fussiness. She came over, I handed Owen over and he burst into tears. I felt just terrible! After Owen calmed down, Owen was soon entertained by Brian and his fake sneezing!

Five Months!

Ok, so where is the time going, anyway? I thought that Owen just turned 4 months what seemed like a week ago! It is so weird but after Owen turned 3 months old, we are suprised daily with new developments. It's amazing how much they change in such a short period of time! We have discovered that Owen loves to be outside! Just like his daddy! When we sit out in the garage and watch TV, Owen is happy for hours. If I am driving with all of the windows down, Owen is happy. If we go for a walk, Owen is happy! :)
On Owen's five month birthday, his first tooth poked through. He was at Patty's house and she couldn't figure out why on earth Owen was so fussy. She tried Mylicon, a nap, everything. Then she remembered that he was starting to teeth and checked his mouth. Sure enough, there it was! It's on the bottom. We are trying to take a picture of it but Owen just isn't cooperating. We will add a picture as soon and we get one! :) Owen has also discovered his feet! He loves to hold onto them! He really doesn't put them in his mouth though!
After Owen's rollover discovery, he rarely lays on his back anymore. He will keep rolling several times if he doesn't get caught up in something stopping him. Once he figures out that his legs need to be on the floor and not in the air when he is on his tummy, I think that he will be crawling! Then we are in trouble! He kicks and moves so much that I'm afraid the older he gets, the more energy he will have! Owen doesn't have a doctor's appointment this month. So we don't know for sure how much he weighes but I'm sure that he has packed on another pound or two. His next doctor's appointment will be at 6 months. He will have more vaccinations at that time as well.
Now that Owen has more dominant facial features, I thought it would be fun to add baby pictures of Doug and I as well and let you decide who Owen looks more like right now. I know he will change later, we will compare again as he get's older!

Below is me at about 4 months old.

Below is Doug at 3 months old.

Four Months Old!!

Where is the time going? We have a little man on our hands. Owen is getting bigger and bigger every day! I'm sure you all know that though! Owen started sleeping through the night the week I went back to work and with an exception to a few days, he sleeps from 9 or 10ish to 5:30 or 6 the next morning. On days when I don't work, he sometimes sleeps until 7! I think he is like his daddy, daddy likes to sleep!

Owen has been much more talkative in the last few days. He coos, gurgles, and speaks his mind! Daddy is the only one that can make him laugh, ,usually, but our friend Brian made him laugh yesterday! Patty, the lady that is watching Owen while we work, has been enjoying taking care of Owen and she is doing an absolutely wonderful job. We feel very blessed to have her watch Owen. She says that Owen is easy to take care of and he is just a generally happy baby. Way to go Owen!

Owen had his 4 month check up this past week and the doctor is very pleased with his progress. He feels that Owen is right on target with all the other 4 month olds. Owen is also flipping from side to side when he is on his back. It won't be much longer before he can completely roll over! Owen weighed in at 14 lbs, 5 oz. and he is 24.8 inches long! He has long since outgrown 0-3 month and we are putting him in 6 month clothing! I swear we just started him in those clothes like two weeks ago and he is filling the clothes out perfectly! I also forgot to mention that the doctor noticed that Owen has two teeth starting to come in on the bottom. He also said that we could start feeding him Rice Cereal! You should see this kid! He takes it like a champ!

Grandma MJ came to visit for a short while and we had so much fun with her! She took care of Owen while mom and dad worked. It was a good way to spend time with her grandson! Grandma, too, was impressed with what a good baby he was. Ok, Ok, maybe I'm a little proud of our guy, but more than anything, I feel blessed that God would give us such a wonderful gift!

It's a tradition in Texas to have pictures taken in the Blue Bonnets. We did that this past weekend and I have a few good pictures. My friend, Ellen, helped scout out some good patches to take pictures in! Thanks Ellen!

Three Months Old!

Well, it's a little late, but here we are! Owen was 3 months old on March 18th! Just a few days after I went back to work. The time goes by so fast, we just can't seem to keep up! Owen is smiling a lot more and cooing like crazy. He can be quite the talker, especially when he is hungry.

We all got sick in the 3rd month and we were even a little scared that Owen may have had RSV. Luckily he just got a bad cold! Owen is wearing 0-3 month clothes and getting heavier. Owen didn't have a doctor's appointment this month so we don't know for sure how much he weighs.

We did 3 month old pictures at Sears and they were interesting to say the least! We will try to post those pictures when we get them. Owen also started to giggle! It was just once but I'm sure there will be more. When dad get's home from school, Owen turns on the smiles! Dad is actually the one to get Owen to smile and laugh! He sure loves his daddy! Here we our on our way over to Brian and Ellen's house to celebrate Owen's 3 month birthday!
