Five Months!

Ok, so where is the time going, anyway? I thought that Owen just turned 4 months what seemed like a week ago! It is so weird but after Owen turned 3 months old, we are suprised daily with new developments. It's amazing how much they change in such a short period of time! We have discovered that Owen loves to be outside! Just like his daddy! When we sit out in the garage and watch TV, Owen is happy for hours. If I am driving with all of the windows down, Owen is happy. If we go for a walk, Owen is happy! :)
On Owen's five month birthday, his first tooth poked through. He was at Patty's house and she couldn't figure out why on earth Owen was so fussy. She tried Mylicon, a nap, everything. Then she remembered that he was starting to teeth and checked his mouth. Sure enough, there it was! It's on the bottom. We are trying to take a picture of it but Owen just isn't cooperating. We will add a picture as soon and we get one! :) Owen has also discovered his feet! He loves to hold onto them! He really doesn't put them in his mouth though!
After Owen's rollover discovery, he rarely lays on his back anymore. He will keep rolling several times if he doesn't get caught up in something stopping him. Once he figures out that his legs need to be on the floor and not in the air when he is on his tummy, I think that he will be crawling! Then we are in trouble! He kicks and moves so much that I'm afraid the older he gets, the more energy he will have! Owen doesn't have a doctor's appointment this month. So we don't know for sure how much he weighes but I'm sure that he has packed on another pound or two. His next doctor's appointment will be at 6 months. He will have more vaccinations at that time as well.
Now that Owen has more dominant facial features, I thought it would be fun to add baby pictures of Doug and I as well and let you decide who Owen looks more like right now. I know he will change later, we will compare again as he get's older!

Below is me at about 4 months old.

Below is Doug at 3 months old.

Four Months Old!!

Where is the time going? We have a little man on our hands. Owen is getting bigger and bigger every day! I'm sure you all know that though! Owen started sleeping through the night the week I went back to work and with an exception to a few days, he sleeps from 9 or 10ish to 5:30 or 6 the next morning. On days when I don't work, he sometimes sleeps until 7! I think he is like his daddy, daddy likes to sleep!

Owen has been much more talkative in the last few days. He coos, gurgles, and speaks his mind! Daddy is the only one that can make him laugh, ,usually, but our friend Brian made him laugh yesterday! Patty, the lady that is watching Owen while we work, has been enjoying taking care of Owen and she is doing an absolutely wonderful job. We feel very blessed to have her watch Owen. She says that Owen is easy to take care of and he is just a generally happy baby. Way to go Owen!

Owen had his 4 month check up this past week and the doctor is very pleased with his progress. He feels that Owen is right on target with all the other 4 month olds. Owen is also flipping from side to side when he is on his back. It won't be much longer before he can completely roll over! Owen weighed in at 14 lbs, 5 oz. and he is 24.8 inches long! He has long since outgrown 0-3 month and we are putting him in 6 month clothing! I swear we just started him in those clothes like two weeks ago and he is filling the clothes out perfectly! I also forgot to mention that the doctor noticed that Owen has two teeth starting to come in on the bottom. He also said that we could start feeding him Rice Cereal! You should see this kid! He takes it like a champ!

Grandma MJ came to visit for a short while and we had so much fun with her! She took care of Owen while mom and dad worked. It was a good way to spend time with her grandson! Grandma, too, was impressed with what a good baby he was. Ok, Ok, maybe I'm a little proud of our guy, but more than anything, I feel blessed that God would give us such a wonderful gift!

It's a tradition in Texas to have pictures taken in the Blue Bonnets. We did that this past weekend and I have a few good pictures. My friend, Ellen, helped scout out some good patches to take pictures in! Thanks Ellen!

Three Months Old!

Well, it's a little late, but here we are! Owen was 3 months old on March 18th! Just a few days after I went back to work. The time goes by so fast, we just can't seem to keep up! Owen is smiling a lot more and cooing like crazy. He can be quite the talker, especially when he is hungry.

We all got sick in the 3rd month and we were even a little scared that Owen may have had RSV. Luckily he just got a bad cold! Owen is wearing 0-3 month clothes and getting heavier. Owen didn't have a doctor's appointment this month so we don't know for sure how much he weighs.

We did 3 month old pictures at Sears and they were interesting to say the least! We will try to post those pictures when we get them. Owen also started to giggle! It was just once but I'm sure there will be more. When dad get's home from school, Owen turns on the smiles! Dad is actually the one to get Owen to smile and laugh! He sure loves his daddy! Here we our on our way over to Brian and Ellen's house to celebrate Owen's 3 month birthday!

Two Months Old!

Owen keeps growing and growing. He recently started talking, too! At first it was small coo's that lasted a second but now they are longer. I keep trying to get a video of the cooing but he stops and stares at the camera. I'm waiting for Doug to help me! He is such a happy baby! Look here! He's even holding his own bottle already! I'm telling you, our child is advanced! We have a smart baby on our hands! :)

Owen had his 2 month check up last week. Owen now weighs 10 lbs, 13 ozs! His little fingers are getting pudgy and so are his legs! Owen is now 22 1/2 inches tall! What a little weed! The doctor gave Owen an A+ for his overall health. Way to go buddy! He also got his first round of vaccines as well. He did much better than expected! Here daddy is holding Owen after he had his shots. We were giving Tylenol for pain and comfort. Owen was a little fussy after the injections.

For Valentines day I got a jogging stroller. I took Owen out for his first ride and it was a cool day. I decided to dress Owen warm so he would be comfortable. I got out the hat that Grandma got him and it is waaaayyy too small now. We enjoyed our stroll though! Owen is saying: "Mom, get this thing off my head, my head is being squeezed!"

Since Owen will be going to daycare, I decided to let the person watching him, Patty, spend a few hours with Owen. I went and worked at a job that I have on the side for a few hours. Owen was an excellent baby. Of coarse, mom has to take pictures on his first, unofficial, day of daycare!

Welcome to Owen's Page!

Welcome to Owen's Page! We are happy that you stopped by! Because we have family and friends so far away from us, we decided to start a page so family and friends can keep up on us and Owen! It seems a little late to start it now but late is better than never! :)

Owen Steven Engelbert was born 8 weeks ago today on Thursday, December 18th. He arrived at 9:16 p.m. Owen weighed 6 lbs. 15 ounces, was 20 1/4 inches long. He was born at the Baylor Medical Center in Frisco. The experience was wonderful and the nurses and doctor gave us the best care possible. I almost didn't want to leave! :)

I was induced for insurance reasons. We met our deductible for the year and had Owen been born after the first of the year, we would have had to pay a significant amount more out of pocket. After being induced, I would not recommend it to anyone. There are a lot of risks and I feel like I took God's timing into my own hands. Everything turned out to be fine but I will not do an induction again. Below, I am getting some "skin to skin" bonding time, and Doug is smiling at our new little guy!

We left the hospital on the 20th in the afternoon. The first night home was very hard, just like all those shows you see on TLC. It's tough. I got 2 hours of sleep and was a mess the next day. I was scared for the second night. Luckily, Owen has been sleeping well every night since then! Below, Owen is dressed and ready to head home!
Grandma Engelbert came to visit shortly after we came home from the hospital, for a week. She helped us out around the house and spent Christmas with us. We really appreciated all her help and Owen loved meeting Grandma.

Grandpa Bresser, Grandma MJ, and Aunt Amy came 10 days later. Owen loved meeting them too! They were also here for a week! In fact, Grandma MJ can't wait until July to see Owen, so she is coming back in April! We can't wait for her return, and to see how fast Owen is growing!

At Owen's 1 month appointment, he weighed 7 lbs, 15 ounces. He was in the 5-25% for weight, 25-50% for his height, and 50-75% for the size of his head! We are going to have a smart man! He goes back for his 2 month appointment at the end of February. The pictures below are when he is just over a month old.

Today Owen is 8 weeks old! I can't believe it! He started cooing and smiling at us instead of because of gas. He has been a little colicky but I think we are figuring out the problem. Owen is a sweet little boy and we are excited to see the little man that he is becoming!

Keep checking back, we will add more posts and try to add video! Emily, you may have to help me with this! Thanks!
